In 1986, I wrote my first paper against the traditions of man — a reaction to what I’d found lacking in the church I’d been part of. At the time, I read scripture literally: Satan as a literal being, directly responsible for evil in the world. I studied deeply into possession and deliverance, trying to understand evil on those terms.
It wasn’t enough. I prayed for wisdom and knowledge — and let that prayer sit unanswered for a long time.
Twenty years later, it was answered. My understanding of Satan shifted — from a literal cause of evil to a representation of it, with each person responsible for their own. Evil stopped being something done to creation from outside it, and started looking like something that arises from within — the ego, the flesh-mind, the false self mistaking itself for the true one.
Since the beginning of Covid, that understanding has continued to move. Evil, now, looks less like a moral failure to be punished and more like a mistake — a “missing the mark,” in the older sense of the word — necessary, even, for a spirit-soul’s freedom and growth. Not something to be feared or repeated, but something to be understood and moved through.
Everything on this site — every study, every book — comes out of that same movement: away from fear, away from a divided God who loves conditionally, and toward the one thing that kept turning out to be true no matter how far the search went — that God’s love was never divided against any part of what He made.
I’m still in that search. This site is where I put down what it’s turned up so far.
